Returns To Bradford Marine
 Captain Tony Bucknole, Master of the M/Y Honey Fitz, stopped in to relay how his yacht’s latest refit project is progressing. This historic vessel is undergoing major work at our Ft. Lauderdale shipyard. Her owner and Captain Tony see Bradford Marine as a first class yard with the best craftsmen, and they regularly trust their service needs to our Company. “Bradford Marine is one of the best shipyards around,” explains Captain Tony. “They employ good people who pay attention to fine details and make certain that every fitting is exact.” The Honey Fitz’s owner is very aware of the yacht’s important historical significance, since she is one of the few Presidential yachts remaining. Therefore, all wood replaced must match the original.
Built in 1931 by Defoe Boat Works in Bay City, Michigan, the 105’ Honey Fitz was the United States’ Presidential yacht serving Presidents up until Nixon. She was auctioned off by the government in December, 1971 after a brief tour of duty providing cruises for hospitalized Vietnam veterans. The yacht was also used for charters while based in New York City.
The Honey Fitz’s current home is Palm Beach, and she will return there once the refit is complete.
